POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Director of Community Outreach, manage the daily operations of the Teen Program.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Adhere to policies, procedures and regulations of the YMCA of Greater Springfield.
  • A strong focus on administrative responsibilities and programming for our Outreach Centers.
  • Manage, oversee and develop Outreach group leaders ensuring they are capable of facilitation of required program.
  • Seek out and utilize interns and volunteers from local colleges and institutions to further enhance the strengths and abilities of your Outreach center.
  • Develop and delegate the implementation of teen programs that include, but are not limited to;
  • Monthly programs and calendars, Leader's Club, Youth in Government, Sports leagues, Field trips, Journalism and literacy.
  • Oversee and supervise staff run programs and activities.
  • Work with staff to ensure a safe environment for participants.
  • Incumbent must maintain high standards for all staff and programming.
  • He/she must promote the best practices of customer service.
  • Assist in the development of new programs.

  • Must represent the YMCA in a professional manner and promote a positive and cheerful environment during each work shift.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate Degree is preferred but may be waived for a candidate with the equivalent years of experience in similar and related field.
  • Must have, or be willing to earn, and maintain CPR and First Aid certification(s).
  • 2 years’ experience in programming and activity planning.
  • Experience working with youth and teens between 11 and 19 years of age.
  • Proven leadership skill and a strong ability to organize and lead others.
  • Ability to work with a diverse population.
