About the Role:

As a Vet Assistant at Garden Oaks Veterinary Center, you will play a crucial role in supporting veterinarians and ensuring the well-being of animals under our care. Your primary focus will be assisting with clinical tasks, preparing animals for examinations, and providing compassionate care to patients. You will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment, managing medical supplies, and facilitating smooth communication between pet owners and veterinary staff. Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience or formal training as a veterinary assistant or in animal care.

• Strong communication skills and a compassionate attitude towards animals and their owners.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in a veterinary clinic or animal hospital setting.

• Knowledge of common animal diseases, medications, and treatment protocols.
• Ability to perform basic laboratory tests and assist with radiology procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Assist veterinarians during examinations and medical procedures by restraining animals and preparing necessary equipment.
• Provide basic care to animals including feeding, bathing, and exercising as directed by veterinary staff.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of treatment areas, kennels, and surgical instruments to ensure a safe environment.
• Manage inventory of medical supplies and equipment, ensuring availability and proper storage.
• Communicate effectively with pet owners by providing instructions for at-home care and answering general questions.
• Record and update patient information accurately in medical records and assist with administrative tasks as needed.
• Support the team in emergency situations by following established protocols and providing immediate assistance.
