Job Summary:

The position’s primary responsibility is to assist with the preparation and documentation of the monthly corporate accounting close process for a real estate investment trust consisting of office and flex industrial properties. The corporate accounting team is responsible for the accounting of cash, restricted cash, debt, equity, and related party transactions, as well as consolidation, internal and external reporting compliance, technical accounting, financial analytics, and review of externally prepared tax returns and REIT compliance documentation. This role interacts heavily with the operations teams and various corporate departments within the Company, as well as having direct interaction with the financial reporting team and the Chief Accounting Officer.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Complete monthly and quarterly accounting close process relating to corporate entities, including but not limited to cash, restricted cash, debt, derivatives, equity & distributions, prepaids & accrued expenses, and intercompany transactions, among other areas.
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly and quarterly lender reporting, including debt covenants.
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly and quarterly business partner reporting packages.
  • Assist with the implementation and maintenance of internal controls and accounting policies to ensure the integrity of the Company’s accounting systems, processes, data and reporting.
  • Assist the Senior Corporate Accountant, Corporate Controller, Chief Accounting Officer and/or financial reporting team, as directed.
  • Assist in the preparation of supporting documentation packages to address ad hoc requests.
  • Exhibit proficiency with the Company’s general ledger and operational systems.
  • Prioritize and perform special projects and other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Commercial real estate experience, particularly on the corporate accounting side.
  • Experience with bank reconciliations, especially within the Yardi accounting system.
  • Experience with restricted cash, intercompany transactions, prepaids and accrued expenses.
  • Ability to drive results and meet strict deadlines.
  • Demonstrated understanding of generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required for this position.
  • High level of computer skills; experience with Yardi a plus, or similar real estate accounting software.
  • Advanced proficiencies in the use of Excel.
  • Minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience in Accounting.
