Job Summary VSolvit is seeking a skilled System Administrator to support our government customer as part of the NS-DSS Program. The role involves maintaining and supporting Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems across on-premise and cloud environments, ensuring secure, stable, and high-performance operations in accordance with DoD and industry standards. You will collaborate with cross-functional IT and engineering teams to maintain uptime, troubleshoot issues, deploy patches, and support mission-critical functions. The role requires a self-motivated professional with strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication, and a focus on security and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities System Management and Administration: Install, configure, and maintain RHEL and other Linux systems; manage user accounts and directory services like Active Directory; apply security patches and system updates in compliance with requirements. Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Monitor system performance and availability; troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues; support incident response and root cause analysis. Networking and Security: Maintain network infrastructure; respond to security alerts; support compliance with cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST 800-53 and RMF. Cloud and Virtualization: Support virtual environments (VMware, Hyper-V); assist deployments on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP). Collaboration and Documentation: Work with QA, DevOps, and development teams; document systems and procedures; mentor junior staff and support end users. Support and Maintenance: Participate in on-call rotation; resolve service tickets; support backup and disaster recovery processes. Minimum Qualifications Associate’s degree in IT or related field, or equivalent experience At least 3 years of Linux system administration experience Experience with Red Hat Linux, Windows Server, virtualization, and cloud platforms Understanding of networking, security, and automation tools Security+ certification or ability to obtain within 6 months U.S. Citizenship required Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field Over 5 years of experience, especially in DoD environments Experience with Active Directory, containers, DevOps tools, and security standards Active DoD SECRET clearance preferred Company Summary Join the VSolvit team!
