Essential Duties Opens and prepares operating rooms utilizing aseptic techniques, including setting up equipment and supplies, and checking equipment functionality. Assists the surgical team by passing instruments, holding retractors, preparing supplies, applying dressings, and performing counts of sponges, needles, and instruments. Performs cleaning, maintenance, decontamination, sterilization, and storage of surgical instruments and equipment. Performs preventative maintenance and troubleshooting of surgical instrumentation and equipment. Prepares for upcoming cases by organizing charts, equipment, and supplies, and ordering necessary items. Supports sterilization and processing of surgical supplies and instrumentation. Assists nurses with procedures as directed. Provides guidance and training to student interns. Supports the organization’s mission, values, and customer service standards, adhering to policies and compliance guidelines. Performs other duties as assigned. Job Requirements Minimum Qualifications: Must be certified as a surgical technician. Work Experience: No experience required; related experience preferred. Education: High school diploma or equivalent plus completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist Program. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of surgical procedures, instrumentation, and sterile techniques. Understanding of accreditation and regulatory standards, including HIPAA and JCAHO. Proficiency in documentation and computer skills. Effective communication skills with patients and healthcare professionals. Ability to handle stressful situations and emotional needs of patients.
