Job Title: Surgery Scheduler

Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Surgery Scheduler to join our team in a busy clinical environment. This role is responsible for coordinating surgical procedures, ensuring accurate documentation, and supporting both patients and providers throughout the scheduling process. The position runs Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.

Responsibilities

• Schedule surgical procedures across multiple facilities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
• Coordinate with physicians, surgical teams, and insurance providers to confirm availability and authorization
• Communicate with patients regarding procedure details, pre-op instructions, and required documentation
• Verify insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations for scheduled procedures
• Maintain and update surgical calendars and provider templates
• Track and follow up on pending cases, cancellations, and reschedules
• Prepare and distribute surgical packets and ensure all pre-op requirements are met
• Answer patient and provider calls related to surgery scheduling and logistics
• Collaborate with front office, medical assistants, and clinical staff to ensure smooth workflow
• Perform administrative duties such as faxing, scanning, filing, and data entry related to surgical coordination

Essential Skills

• Strong understanding of surgical scheduling workflows and terminology
• Familiarity with EMR systems such as Athena or similar platforms
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Ability to multitask and manage time-sensitive tasks with accuracy

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Prior experience in surgery scheduling or medical office coordination preferred
• Knowledge of insurance verification and authorization processes
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Work Environment

This role is part of a collaborative team that includes front office staff, medical assistants, and clinical providers. The Surgery Scheduler plays a key role in ensuring patients are prepared and scheduled efficiently for their procedures.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Plano, Texas.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $22.00/hr.
