The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional telephone and face-to-face nursing care to patients following established Departmental policies and procedures. Essential duties include performing and documenting patients’ vital signs, assisting patients in specimen collection, preparing patients for physical examinations, assisting physicians with treatments and procedures, performing venipunctures, IV therapies and injections, dispensing medications as prescribed, documenting care in medical records, scheduling and coordinating tests and treatments, reviewing laboratory results and notifying physicians of abnormalities, contacting patients with test results, educating and counseling patients and families, maintaining clinical areas, answering telephones and triaging patient calls, and establishing productive working relationships. Education requirements include an Associate Degree in Nursing, with a Bachelor of Science Degree preferred, current Michigan Registered Nurse License, current BLS Certification, and 1-2 years’ experience in ambulatory care preferred. Knowledge of nursing theory, OSHA, MIOSHA, JACHO, HIPPA regulations, and Public Health Code is required. Skills include effective communication, analytical judgment, computer proficiency, confidentiality, and organizational skills. The position requires compliance with health and safety policies and a 40-hour work week with variable hours.
