Learn About a Day in the Life of a PCT

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and other ADLs under the supervision of nursing and medical staff.
  • Observe patients’ progress and prepare reports for Registered Nurses or other medical staff.
  • Obtain and record patients' vital signs and collect specimens for lab tests.
  • Provide basic patient transport and housekeeping duties.
  • Measure and record patients' intake and output, assist with range of motion, and draw blood.
  • Assist in providing treatments, perform technical procedures, and conduct ECGs as ordered.
  • Coordinate daily activities for the assigned unit, including clerical and administrative support.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • BLS certification.

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • Experience in Phlebotomy or completion of a Phlebotomy course.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in phlebotomy.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • 5 years of experience in acute or long-term care.
  • Completion of approved CNA, PCT, or paramedic (EMT-P) may substitute for relevant years of experience.
