Job Description

About the Organ Allocation Coordinator

The Organ Allocation Coordinator (OAC) contributes to maximizing organ utilization by managing the allocation process for organs, placement of all organs for research, and facilitating transportation of organs. In collaboration with the Organ Recovery Coordinator (ORC), Organ Donation Coordinator (ODC), and Advisor on Call (AOC), the OAC reviews the donor medical record to ensure completion and utilizes clinical judgement to determine organs which may be at risk of non-use and develop prevention strategies. Considered a subject matter expert in organ allocation, the OAC maintains a working knowledge of Donor Network of Arizona (DNA) and Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN) policies.

The OAC works collaboratively with external partners which may include a range of high-level professionals including transplant physicians and surgeons, transplant coordinators, researchers, and other OPO professionals. Builds and maintains professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring responsive service and alignment with organizational core values. Each organ donation case presents a new set of unique circumstances that must be addressed in real-time to ensure successful transplantation. This requires a high degree of organization, ingenuity, and an ability to adapt in order to rapidly problem-solve in the face of challenges to organ utilization. The OAC, in collaboration with departmental leadership, takes action in urgent situations to minimize adverse events that may negatively impact the supply of organs or the safety of recipients.

*Night shift position, 7 pm - 7 am, 36 hours per week

While this is a hybrid position, candidates must reside in the state of Arizona, or be willing to relocate.
