Optometrist (Chinese & English Speaking)

Location: New York, NY

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $180,000 - $220,000 annually

Job Summary

We are seeking a licensed, patient-focused Optometrist who is fluent in Chinese (Mandarin and/or Cantonese) and English to join a growing eye care practice in New York. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive vision care services, diagnose and manage ocular conditions, and deliver high-quality patient education while effectively communicating with a diverse patient population.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive eye examinations to evaluate vision and ocular health
• Diagnose, treat, and manage common eye conditions and vision disorders
• Prescribe corrective lenses, contact lenses, and other vision aids
• Perform and interpret diagnostic tests, including refraction, tonometry, and retinal evaluations
• Identify ocular diseases and refer patients to ophthalmologists or specialists as needed
• Educate patients on eye health, preventive care, and proper lens use
• Maintain accurate and timely patient medical records in compliance with regulatory standards
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients in both Chinese and English
• Collaborate with optical staff and healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care
• Stay current with advancements in optometry, clinical practices, and industry standards

Qualifications & Requirements

• Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution
• Active optometry license in the practicing jurisdiction
• Fluency in Chinese (Mandarin and/or Cantonese) and English (spoken; written proficiency preferred)
• Strong clinical, diagnostic, and decision-making skills
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
• Commitment to patient-centered, ethical care
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

Preferred Skills

• Experience working with multicultural or bilingual patient populations
• Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems
• Experience in contact lens fitting, pediatric optometry, or geriatric eye care is a plus
