This position is located in the city of Sacramento .

Under the general supervision of the Staff Services Manager I (SSM I), the Office Technician, Typing (OT-T) independently provides technical and clerical support to the Workforce Development Section (WDS) by performing specialized duties related to the administration of the Vocational Rehabilitation Services Delivery (VRSD) process consistent with Code of Federal Regulations, California Code of Regulations related to the VR program and the Department’s Rehabilitation Administrative Manual Sections 12 and 30; and State procurement requirements.

The OT-T provides administrative support to the WDS team and provides back-up support to Personnel. Conducts invoice reconciliation, provides travel claim support, process WDS attendance forms, orders and purchases office equipment and supplies.

• The position(s) require(s) the ability to type at a minimum speed as designated on the Class Specifications (link available in the additional documentation section). Statement of Qualifications:
A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is required in order to be considered for an interview. The SOQ should address how the candidate’s experience meets each of the following desirable qualifications. Each response must be numbered and should provide examples of how the candidate meets the qualification. The SOQ must be no more than one (1) page typed in Arial 14-point font, with 1-inch margins. Successful candidates will incorporate and demonstrate a commitment to the mission of the Department of Rehabilitation in their Statement of Qualifications.

1. Describe your experience communicating with the public and other staff both in-person and over the phone. How do you handle a difficult or demanding person tactfully?

2. Tell us about a time you had to support a large team or multiple departments. How did you coordinate with different groups to manage competing needs?

3. Describe a situation where you were given a new or unfamiliar task without complete instructions. How did you approach the situation and ensure the task was completed correctly?

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

• Ability to communicate with all levels of internal and external contacts in a professional manner, and with integrity and respect;
• Ability to help facilitate expeditious resolution of problems from in-person requests, incoming phone calls and emails;
• Knowledge of DOR resources and processes, RAM, and federal and state Code of Regulations;
• High level of organizational skills and office equipment and processes proficiency;
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
• Knowledge of department's mission and goals;
• Experience communicating with and providing information regarding DOR services to applicants and consumers
