Overview OB TECH role at Hugh Chatham Health . Full time, 7:00am-7:00pm. Responsibilities Assists surgeons and nursing personnel in the OR. Adheres to unit aseptic standards. Assembles necessary supplies for the surgical procedures. Assists the surgical team by passing instruments and related items as needed. Performs general and unit-specific receptionist and secretarial duties. Maintains adequate unit stock and ensures compliance with unit aseptic standards. Assists with direct patient care as deemed necessary by the Charge Nurse and/or OB Manager. Education and Formal Training High School diploma or equivalent. Graduate from an accredited surgical tech program is desired. NC CNAI certification required. BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required. New employees required to have current certification at new hire or obtain within 30 days of hire date. Work Experience Previous secretarial experience preferred. Previous OR Tech experience desired but not required; on-the-job training provided. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Willingness to learn and perform different procedures; strong communication skills to work with nurses, anesthesia, and physicians. Learn sterile technique, instruments, and passing techniques; operate equipment as needed. Ability to respond to changing workloads and perform accurately in crisis or emergency situations. Even temperament, tact, sensitivity, sound judgment, and professional attitude; courteous, friendly interaction with patients, public, physicians, and hospital personnel.
