Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to join a high-impact mission-critical team at Odenton, Maryland. This role involves network integration, engineering, and operational support for a secure, large-scale enterprise environment. You will collaborate with skilled professionals to implement secure network configurations, optimize system performance, and enhance mission readiness through continuous service improvements.
Primary Responsibilities:
Design, integrate, and implement secure network solutions.
Collaborate with network architects to improve STIG-compliant baselines and track compliance.
Perform testing, validation, and automation of best practices.
Assist in the development of SOPs, TTPs, and Engineering Implementation Plans (EIPs).
Support incident management and root cause analysis (RCA).
Provide tier escalation for technical issues and participate in engineering operations readiness reviews.
Maintain and troubleshoot enterprise-level network infrastructure: routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, IPS, WANX.
Implement and evaluate firewall rules and load balancers.
Ensure operational readiness for production environments and support OCONUS travel (up to 10%).
Core Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s in a technical discipline and 4–8 years of relevant experience OR Master’s with 2–6 years. (Additional experience may be substituted in place of a degree.)
Clearance: Active Top Secret with SCI eligibility.
Certifications: Security+ or other DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification (required within specified timeframe if not held at hire).
Strong knowledge of network and security architectures, protocols, and defense-in-depth principles.
Hands-on experience in deploying and maintaining Cisco enterprise network infrastructure.
In-depth knowledge of BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS, VPNs, VLANs, Spanning Tree, VoIP, LLDP, and multicast protocols.
Skilled in documenting and presenting technical solutions to leadership and team members.
Ability to travel up to 10%+ OCONUS travel.
Preferred Qualifications:
Cisco CCNP (Route/Switch and/or Security)
IAT Level III Certification (CISSP or equivalent)
Understanding of enterprise WAN principles, performance and configuration management
Experience transitioning solutions from engineering to operations within large-scale networks
