$17 - $21 per hour
SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Shelter Administrator, the Shelter Support Attendant will help ensure and maintain a clean, safe, and supportive environment for all participants. The Shelter Support Attendant will work with the other shelter staff to help all participants move towards stability and toward achieving their goals. They will be responsible for the Duties and Responsibilities listed below, and perform other duties as assigned.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in implementing shelter activities to ensure quality and trauma-informed delivery of
services.
Encourage and discuss progress toward housing with shelter participants.
Assist with shelter setup, maintenance, cleanliness, and safety of the facility.
Empty trash cans and perform clean-up duties.
Assist with receiving and verifying orders from vendors and completing tally sheets.
Help organize supplies and address facility needs.
Maintain a safe and functional shelter by facilitating curfew and signing participants in and out of
the facility.
Perform basic searches of persons or their property.
Demonstrate responsibility during perimeter checks and fire watch duties.
Provide support to drivers.
Assist with keeping detailed daily summary sheets.
Assist with record-keeping and reporting.
Maintain perimeter check logs and safety logs.
Assist with participant services and program activities as needed.
Knowledge of fair housing laws and legal issues related to client advocacy
Ability to prioritize urgent matters and adapt to change.
Ability to provide participant-focused, trauma-informed, and housing-focused services.
Ability to perform crisis intervention and de-escalation as needed.
Ability to work effectively with any contracted staff (e.g., security team, service providers)
Ability to direct and professionally control crowds while respecting individual dignity.
Any other tasks assigned by the Shelter Administrator.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess a high level of patience, tolerance, and understanding for individuals with urgent case management and health needs.
Reliable transportation is required.
Flexible work schedule, including weekends, evenings, and potential schedule changes.
Detail-oriented and proficient in Microsoft Office/Google Suite products.

EDUCATION
Valid, unrestricted CA driver’s license.
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross.
