Fleet Maintenance Manager – Republic Services Manage fleet equipment at one or more locations and lead a team of technicians responsible for preventive maintenance and repair of up to 60 vehicles (diesel and alternative fuel). Additional responsibilities may include maintenance of equipment and machinery at a post‑collection facility and management of a container shop. Provide direction, ensure all repairs and maintenance comply with safety standards and federal and state regulations, and plan and schedule repair work to maximize productivity. Principal Responsibilities Direct all technician levels, supervise lead technicians and a fleet maintenance supervisor, and ensure repair and maintenance work is safe, efficient and timely. Oversee planning and scheduling of all repair work, manage overtime, monitor shop performance, and report to management; implement process improvements. Manage lead technicians and maintenance supervisors, conduct daily huddles, coaching, counseling, hiring and termination decisions (in coordination with HR), training, performance evaluation, and promotion recommendations. Maintain a preventive maintenance program, identify trends in road calls and breakdowns, oversee facility maintenance, and control maintenance costs. Coordinate outside repair facilities and ensure work meets safety and compliance procedures; follow up and provide corrective action. Conduct quality control inspections, track issues and resolution to ensure work meets safety and compliance standards. Use advanced knowledge of engine, emission, transmission, brake, hydraulic and electrical systems to manage repairs of heavy equipment and vehicles. Handle related administrative tasks: payroll, employee records, preventive and corrective maintenance records, budgeting, and department goal setting. May require local travel. Automotive Service Excellence certifications (T2 Diesel Engine, T3 Drive, T4 Brake, T5 Suspension and Steering). High school diploma or G.E.D. Minimum Requirements Minimum 3 years as a Maintenance Supervisor in the transportation industry with knowledge of OSHA Hazcom, Lock Out Tag Out, Fire Safety and other federal and state regulations.
