Dubin Clark has partnered with Hueman to find a Controller in Jacksonville Beach

The Controller will be responsible for overseeing the firm’s financial operations, fund accounting, internal controls, and reporting processes. This role is critical to maintaining accurate financial records and supporting both firm-level and portfolio-level financial decision-making. The ideal candidate will have experience in private equity or alternative asset management and a general understanding of fund structures, GAAP accounting, and compliance via previous fund accounting or financial services audit roles.

The firm makes control equity investments in branded niche manufacturing and specialty service companies with revenues from $5 million to $100 million.

Job Responsibilities:

• Firm-level Financial Management
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting and financial operations, including AP, AR, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis for the firm.
  • Collaborate with external auditors, tax advisors, and legal counsel.
• Fund Accounting & Investor Reporting
  • Maintain fund books and records in accordance with U.S. GAAP and industry best practices.
  • Prepare capital call and distribution notices, partner capital account statements, and waterfall calculations.
  • Monitor and reconcile capital activity, including commitments, contributions, and returns.
  • Coordinate quarterly and annual investor reports and support the fundraising process with financial data.
• Compliance & Controls
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, partnership agreements, and relevant financial regulations.
  • Develop and implement best-in-class accounting policies and procedures.
  • Support regulatory filings and liaise with auditors during annual fund and firm audits.
• Team Leadership & Systems
  • Manage and mentor junior accounting staff or outsourced finance providers.
  • Evaluate and implement accounting systems and financial reporting tools.
  • Work closely with the investment team to support deal execution and post-acquisition integration.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred but not required
• 3+ years of related accounting or audit experience
• Experience in private equity, venture capital, hedge funds, or asset management preferred
• Strong knowledge of partnership accounting, fund structures, and GAAP.
• Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• High level of integrity, discretion, and attention to detail.
