Job Summary:
The Chinese Community Worker will serve as a liaison and advocate for the Chinese-speaking community, providing culturally competent support, outreach, and resources. This role is responsible for building strong relationships within the community, assisting residents or clients in accessing services, and ensuring effective communication between the organization and the Chinese-speaking population.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct outreach to the Chinese community to raise awareness of programs, services, and resources.
  • Assist Chinese-speaking residents or clients with navigating services, applications, and documentation.
  • Provide translation and interpretation support for meetings, documents, and communications, as needed.
  • Serve as a cultural liaison to ensure programs and services are culturally appropriate and responsive.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, organizations, and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal staff to address community needs and resolve concerns.
  • Participate in community events, workshops, and informational sessions.
  • Document interactions and maintain accurate records for reporting purposes.

Qualifications:

  • Fluency in Mandarin and/or Cantonese and English (spoken and written).
  • Knowledge of Chinese culture, traditions, and community dynamics.
  • Experience in community outreach, social services, or related field preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Compassionate, patient, and culturally sensitive approach to community engagement.

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required;
  • Previous experience working with immigrant or senior communities is highly desirable.

Working Conditions:

  • May require evening or weekend work to attend community events.
  • Travel within the community may be necessary.
