TOPSIDE is hiring for a Barback Take it easy at Topside, Baltimore's favorite rooftop overlooking the historic neighborhood, Mount Vernon. Topside is rooted in Baltimore's culture from a seafood-centric menu that features local purveyors and artisans, to special events, local collaborations, pop-ups, and seasonal celebrations, because that's what Baltimore is all about What you'll do: Greet all guests in close proximity and make each feel important by providing a genuine welcome. Assist the bar team with preparation, opening, and closing duties. Assist with the restocking and replenishment of bar inventory, garnishes, and supplies. Properly wash and sterilize glassware, utensils, and bar equipment. Maintain a high level of cleanliness in all areas of the bar, including counters, sinks, utensils, shelves, and storage areas. Maintain bottles and glasses in an attractive and functional manner to support efficient drink preparation and promotion of beverages. Clean drink spills, sweep, and properly dispose of broken glass. Check guests' identification to verify minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages as needed. Attempt to limit issues and liability related to excessive drinking by having an awareness of the signs of intoxication and taking appropriate measures to ensure the safety of our guests. Ensure that all equipment is maintained in good, safe working condition and report all equipment problems and bar maintenance issues to management. Maintain an increased awareness of safety issues throughout the property and keep abreast of safety and emergency procedures and OSHA requirements. Take direction from bartenders and management and be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the outlet. Ensure open lines of communication with all departments and management via email, logbooks, meetings, etc., to ensure all needs of the outlet are met. Ensure immediate response is given to guest comments and concerns; inform your immediate supervisor and apply corrective measures when necessary. Who you are: You have a High School Diploma or a General Education Degree (GED). You have a state-issued food handling + beverage certifications as required. You have at least 6+ months of related experience in the hospitality industry. You have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. You have the ability to speak effectively before guests and groups of co-workers.
