Work Schedule, Hours per week: Varies depending on department needs
Pay Range: AJCR $1,208-$1,344 per credit hour and in accordance with the adjunct table and determined based on relevant years of work experience.

Position Summary: The Fashion Merchandising and Design department at Johnson County Community College is accepting applications for an adjunct instructor in the Apparel Design and Technology program. We are seeking an instructor for the following classes:
FASH 231 – Merchandising Planning and Control
Course Description Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to describe the management structure of retail merchandising operations, contrast merchandising functions among various types of retail operations, explain the buying process, explain the financial operations of retail merchandising and apply these principles in computer-simulated case situations. 3 hrs. lecture/wk. This course is typically taught in the spring semester.

Required Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline
- At least two years of related industry experience.
- Qualified candidates for this position must have the following skills:
- Knowledge of retail buying, merchandise planning and scheduling
- Strong business math skills.
- Written and oral communication skills.
- Organization and classroom management skills.
- Motivation to teach and mentor students at the college level and promote student success.
- Ability to facilitate a positive and engaging learning environment that fosters creative and critical thinking.
- Working knowledge of MS Excel.
Preferred Qualifications - Master’s degree
- Community involvement in organizations tied to fashion a plus.
- Post-secondary or college teaching experience.
- Experience with store management and operations.
