Job Description

Overview Anthropology Adjunct. This recruitment is to establish an applicant pool for future vacancies. Individuals will be contacted as vacancies occur. Salary: $5,000 - $6,000 per 5-credit; Classification: Adjunct Faculty; Reports to: Dean of Social Sciences & Humanities. Responsibilities Prepare and teach anthropology courses. Provide quality teaching including related preparation and grading. Provide class syllabi to students enrolled in classes and to the division office as requested. Maintain accurate records of students and complete forms as required. May include evening instruction and/or instruction at satellite campuses. May be asked to teach hybrid classes and online courses. Will be expected to teach a range of Anthropology courses. Punctual communication with students, faculty, and staff. Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in Anthropology from an accredited college or university. Basic Computer Competency; MS Office preferred. Desired Qualifications: College teaching experience; Advanced computer competency and experience with LMS systems. Successful Applicants will: Effectively teach and impart excitement and enthusiasm in teaching courses; demonstrate a commitment to teaching students with little or no background, as well as the experienced student desiring to further their careers; utilize a variety of methods and modes of instruction to ensure student success; teach and contribute through actions to the college's diversity; function as a team player; demonstrate success working with individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; incorporate computer information technology in delivery of services; establish and maintain effective working relationships; understand and commit to the Olympic College mission and diversity; provide two professional letters of recommendation upon request and sample syllabi if requested. Additional Information Terms of Employment: Adjunct faculty position contracted on a quarterly basis. Salary range is per quarter and determined by educational background and experience. The college is part of a collective bargaining agreement with the Association for Higher Education (AHE). Evening/weekend classes, instruction at satellite campuses, and travel to clinical sites may be part of the instructional load. Benefits for adjuncts are limited; see details below. Eligibility and benefits: Adjuncts are not eligible for benefits upon initial hire. Eligibility for benefits requires working 50 percent of a full-time load for two consecutive quarters. Other SBCTC college benefits may apply after eligibility is met. Provided benefits may include retirement savings, sick leave, tuition waivers, EAP, and other listed programs. Conditions of Employment: A background check will be conducted. The employee must reside in Washington State and respond to workplace reporting requirements.
