Job Description

The Babcock & Wilcox Company (B&W) is a leader in energy and environmental products and services for power and industrial markets worldwide. Our headquarters in Akron, Ohio is currently seeking an Intern/Co-op to join our Accounting Global Business Services (GBS) team. The internship will provide an educational, hands-on experience to students pursuing careers in Accounting or Finance under the guidance of the Accounting Manager. This is a Spring/Summer intern/co-op position. This is a full-time, up to 40 hours a week internship/co-op.

1. Provide support to the Corporate General Accounting department
2. Review general ledger accounts
3. Create and organize account reconciliations
4. Analyze accounts, identify issues and provide support documentation
5. Support for audit requests
6. Organize and enter general accounting journal entries
7. Create procedure documentation for proper SOX compliance
8. Support process maintenance in ERP system as needed
9. Other projects and/or task as assigned as part of the internship experience

1. Currently enrolled in an accredited two or four-year program, working towards a degree in Accounting or related field
2. Complete courses in intermediate accounting and cost accounting, preferred
3. Current GPA of 3.0 or higher, preferred
4. Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
5. Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, preferred
6. Capacity to handle confidential information
7. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
8. Ability to follow instructions and work independently with a sense of urgency and enthusiasm
9. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
10. Positive attitude and willingness to learn
11. U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the U.S.
